Terms and Conditions

Please read these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) carefully before using the Morph Books application (“the App”) operated by Morph Books (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

1. Service Description

Morph Books is an iOS reading application that allows you to:

  • Import and read EPUB books and web articles.
  • Listen to books using text-to-speech (TTS) technology.
  • Highlight and annotate text passages.
  • Interact with an AI reading assistant that can answer questions about your books.
  • Track reading time, streaks, and goals.
  • Sync your library, progress, and highlights across devices (premium feature).

2. User Accounts

You may create an account using Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or email and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use the App.

You may stop using the App and sign out at any time. Signing out deletes all locally stored data from your device.

3. Subscriptions and Payments

3.1 Free Tier

  • A limit of 2 imported books.
  • Daily listening time limited to 30 minutes.
  • No cloud sync across devices.

3.2 Premium Subscription

Premium subscriptions unlock unlimited book imports, unlimited listening, cloud sync, and cloud backup. Available on a monthly or yearly basis.

3.3 Billing

  • All subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
  • You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings.

3.4 Free Trials

Certain plans may include a free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will be automatically charged. Cancel during the trial at no cost through your Apple ID settings.

3.5 Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store's refund policies.

4. Content Ownership

You retain full ownership of all content you import, including EPUB files, articles, and highlights. We do not claim any ownership over your content.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to access and use any content you import.

The App itself, including its design, code, TTS voices, and user interface, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws.

When you use cloud sync, copies of your books are stored solely for cross-device sync and backup. We do not access, read, or share the content of your books.

5. AI Features

5.1 AI Reading Assistant

The App includes an AI reading assistant powered by OpenAI. When you use this feature, book context (title, author, chapter, and a short excerpt) is sent to generate responses. Voice input is processed on-device and the text transcription is sent to the AI service.

5.2 Disclaimer

AI responses are for informational and entertainment purposes only. They may contain inaccuracies. Do not rely on AI responses as a substitute for your own reading or professional advice.

5.3 Prohibited Use

You agree not to use AI features to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content, or to attempt to extract training data or circumvent safety filters.

6. Text-to-Speech

The App provides TTS using an on-device Kokoro engine (no data sent externally) and Apple's built-in speech synthesis. TTS audio is cached locally and is not distributed or shared.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
  • Import or distribute pirated or illegally obtained content.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or its systems.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App or its infrastructure.
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to interact with the App.
  • Share your account credentials with others.

8. Limitation of Liability

The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee availability, uninterrupted service, or error-free operation.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We recommend keeping your own copies of important EPUB files.

9. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases and cloud data may be deleted after a reasonable period.

10. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with Supabase, Cloudflare, OpenAI, RevenueCat, Apple, and Google. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms. We are not responsible for third-party practices or availability.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia.

12. Dispute Resolution

Disputes shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation by contacting us at morphbooks@gmail.com. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the courts of Australia.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the App.
